Stormzy and Anthony Joshua took over the GQ Awards this week.

The two friends – who famously linked up when Stormzy rapped out AJ to the ring for his fight with Dillian Whyte in 2015 – picked up awards for Solo Artist and Sportsman of The Year respectively.

It was a busy night for Stormzy, who provided the main takeaway from the evening with remarks on the prime minister, referring to Therese May as a "paigon".

It’s more than likely anyone currently reading is aware of the slang word and it’s etymology and unlike quite a few members of the press in attendance last night, are fully aware Stormzy did not in fact call the Prime Minister a “pig”, or allude to outdated religious beliefs.

Not everyone understood Stormzy's take on the PM.

With Jeremy Corbyn on hand to present Stormzy with the award last night and the south London MC a self-confessed supporter of JC, something along the lines of this happening was always on the cards but Stormzy didn’t get this far holding his tongue in public spaces and clearly won’t do so going forward.

Another Brit currently flying in 2017 is Anthony Joshua and the World Heavyweight Champ picked up yet another title, taking home Sportsman of the year for the second year running.
