Kidulthood is coming back, again.

2016 might have seen the end of Noel Clarke's classic hood trilogy on the silver screen but a revival of the franchise to set take on the shape for TV with "new world, new rules, new problems."

According to a statement from Lionsgate UK and Unstoppable the new series will stay "true to the heart of the film franchise but refreshes the concept for a new platform and a new catchment audience" and will introduce new characters alongside some familiar faces.

Kidulthood was the most successful ‘Black British’ film to date upon its release.

After being made for around £500,000, the original film was declared as being the most successful ‘Black British’ film to date when it was released in 2006, and drew widespread acclaim for its authentic portrayal of young people's lives in London. The combined UK box office of of the three films stands at £7.5m.

Steve November, Creative Director of UK Television for Lionsgate said "I’m excited that we can bring Noel’s vision for Kidulthood to a huge new audience, both domestically in the UK and on a global scale. Noel’s script is contemporary and exhilarating and will bring something refreshing and original to television viewers."
