Little Simz Slays in Stunning Visualiser For Gorillaz’ Garage Palace
Superhero Simz like we've never seen her before.
London rap wiz Little Simz makes her entry into the animated universe of Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett’s virtual band, Gorillaz, guesting on surprise single “Garage Places.”
With Simz joining the band in giving his one a spin at live dates in recent weeks, yesterday brought about a brilliant retro 8-bit video game visualiser to accompany the track, soon to be available on the super deluxe vinyl re-issue of ‘Humanz.’ Placing Simz’ scatter gun flow over frenetic breakbeat production, proves to be a winner here and at this point, is the kind of inspired selection we’ve come to expect from the Gorillaz.
With his ears constantly to the pulse of scenes within not just the UK but the world over, speaking on the inspiration to work with Simz, frontman Albarn revealed “I just was really struck by her kind of individualism, she’s just not part of a scene, and I think that’s great for her.”
Look out for “Garage Palace” on the deluxe vinyl box set of ‘Humanz,’ out later this week, containing a super 14 additional tracks to go with the original.
