Gareth Southgate has announced his 23-man squad for their Nation's League opener versus Spain and their friendly against Switzerland.
Joe Gomez and Luke Shaw notably get recalls to the squad following their strong domestic form for Liverpool and Manchester United respectively, whilst Burnley's James Tarkowski fills in for Gary Cahill, who retired from International duty recently.
Elsewhere Ashley Young and Jamie Vardy drop out of the squad, with Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy – who has been called up twice before but never capped – replaces the injured Nick Pope, and Adam Lallana earns a recall after being on standby for England before the World Cup. Opening up on his selection process, Southgate said, “We’re obviously coming off the back of a successful summer, so I think there’s a good foundation for us to build on."
The Three Lions squad will link up again at St. George’s Park on Monday 3 September - tickets for both of England’s September fixtures are still available here.
