Wolves came into their game against Chelsea as massive underdogs, with Chelsea firm favourites to keep their title hopes alive and the Midlands club without a win in eight.
Despite being fielded in an unfamiliar center forward position – on his first Premier League start – Morgan Gibbs-White completely ran the show against Chelsea. Grabbing an assist for the equaliser, completing the most take-ons and covering the most amount of distance in his time on the pitch, Gibbs-White has now firmly made his mark on domestic football after his U17 World Cup heroics last year.

The 18-year-old won the Man of the Match award for his display that’s rightly drawn the plaudits in the press this morning. It left a large number of Chelsea fans wondering why Callum Hudson-Odoi is “not ready” for the step up to start for Chelsea according to Maurizio Sarri.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s decision to start Gibbs-White showcased exactly the rewards you can get from affording minutes to talented young players. After the game, Espirito Santo said, “Gibbs-White is [part of] one of the best generations of English players for a long time. It is amazing what they are producing.”
