Aston Villa have signed England Under-17 striker Louie Barry from Barcelona for a fee of £880,000.

The 16-year-old spent six months at La Masia with the Spanish champions, who he joined from West Bromwich Albion in July 2019. Prior to moving to Spain, the Birmingham-born baller had been with Midlands' rivals Albion since he was six. Barry has now opted to leave Barca and join Aston Villa, the club who he supported growing up, after the clubs agreed a substantial fee for the forward.

While waiting for international clearance, Louie played behind closed doors game for Villa's U23s today, where he came on for final 30 mins and scored the equaliser in a 2-1 win against Cardiff. Dean Smith and John Terry were apparently watching the teenager's performance, and were left impressed by what they saw.

Barry is a certified bagsman for his age group, having slotted in 10 goals in five games for England U15s at a tournament in Italy in 2018, before winning the Golden Boot at the Vale-de-Marne tournament later that year.

Barry's former club West Bromwich Albion are taking legal advice in their on-going battle with Barcelona over the signing of Barry, with the Midlands club still yet to be paid any of the £130,000 fee set by an independent tribunal.

Expect to see Barry to do more bits for the senior side before the year's out.
