Angel City FC debuted their primary kit for the 2022 season and despite it coming a few months late, it did not disappoint.

The club - founded by a string of A-Listers including Academy Award-winning actress and activist Natalie Portman - wanted their kit to mirror the iconic Los Angeles sunrise as well as the idea that ACFC represents a ‘new dawn’ for women’s football.

Nike and ACFC helped to create that feeling by using a geometric pattern to represent sunrise, and to symbolise the first light on a dark horizon. Marking the start of a new day. The zigzag pattern between the sunrise graphics mirrors the official flag of Los Angeles, ensuring the city is at the heart of their work on and off the pitch.

The black jersey is a simple yet timeless look, created for fans across generations. And is made with 100% recycled materials, featuring the standard Nike Dri-FIT technology used across kits in the NWSL and the USWNT.

The team mantra ‘VOLEMOS’- translating to ‘let’s fly’ in Spanish - can be found on the back of the jersey’s collar, and serves as a reminder to always keep flying to greater heights as a team.

Co-founder, two-time Olympic Champion and World Cup winner Abby Wambach labelled the jersey as “one for the history books” explaining that this jersey “sets a new and rightful standard on what women’s sports are worth and what a team can mean to the community. We will wear it proudly. This is THE jersey. Our jersey.”

Through jersey sponsorship, over the next several years the club is hoping to directly impact the greater Los Angeles community. ACFC will invest almost $2 million into communities in partnership with DoorDash, Birdies, and Sprouts Farmers Market. With financial support like that, ACFC can change the lives of thousands through football.  Due to global supply chain challenges, the kit will be available for purchase in early 2022.
