Nike have reunited with their long-term club partner AIK for yet another stellar shirt release – dubbed the ’Royal Edition’ 2022 preseason jersey.

The limited edition design arrives as the latest dose of strong regal attire for the Swedish club, with all proceeds from sales of the shirts going to Swedish sports camp.

AIK have a recent history of setting the levels when it comes to their shirt offerings, but the latest kit goes beyond just asserting their style credentials on the pitch. AIK’s founding mission statement in 1891 was to give people the right to play sports – so proceeds from the AIK ‘Royal Edition’ preseason jersey are being donated to Stadium Sports Camp, a nonprofit organisation with a dedicated mission to give kids access to movement and sport.

Arriving in a deep royal blue colour, based on the blue colour in the club’s crest – despite blue having never been used on any official match jerseys or other designs in the clubs history. Other unique offerings are seen on  the jersey’s chest, with a map Stockholm, elevated and embroidered club crest on a base of thick blue velvet and the club name is found across the chest in gold.

There’s also a bespoke Nike logo that comes complete with the Nike wording riding across the Swoosh, with the jersey rounded out with yellow and golden details.

Rather than revel in regality and elitism, the club say that all AIK fans are kings and queens, as acting Club Director Fredrik Söderberg explains: “To be king or queen is less about position and more about attitude. Every AIK fan is royal in their way of being. From players in the A-league to the kid’s teams, volunteers, leaders and supporters. Regardless of who you are or where you come from. Everyone has a black and yellow heart that pumps royal blue blood. That is the theme of this year’s preseason jersey.”
