Labrum London’s Foday Dumbuya has joined forces with Idris Elba to create a Commonwealth Games kit collection for Sierra Leone.
Designed in collaboration between Idris Elba’s 2hr Set imprint, the collection champions Sierra Leone’s national colours of green, white and blue with wavy lines that draw inspiration from the waves coming back to the land
The collection includes both formal and sport-focussed outerwear, bottoms, headwear and a collaborative Clarks Originals Desert Boot, with the collection fronted by Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah and Triple Jumper Jordan Aki-Sawyerr.
The eye-catching design approach seen on the apparel pieces was also carried over into the Desert Boot, featuring a navy suede upper alongside a clean, crepe sole, with a wavy green and white pattern running along the main panel on the upper. A co-branded tag notes Clarks Originals, Labrum and 2HR Set’s, Elba’s former label, cap off the pair.
Speaking about the collection, Labrum founder Foday Dumbuya said: “We are finally being globally welcomed for what we have always known we possessed: a wealth of cultural agency and influence. We wanted this kit to represent the real style of the Salone people.
“Africa, and especially Sierra Leone, is experiencing a cultural renaissance in every field of human endeavour, with music, art, fashion and sport leading the way. It’s important for us that we help project a strong, positive image of Sierra Leone as we are passionate about the ambitions and prospects of our beautiful country.”
“Through collaborations such as this, we aim to raise Sierra Leone’s cultural global status by showcasing the country’s deep wealth of talent.”
The Labrum x Idris Elba Clarks Deset Boot is available as part of a limited-edition run of 50 pairs which you can cop via the Labrum London website soon. Get a closer look at the campaign lookbook below.
