VERSUS and size? Celebrated the Most Iconic Black Players in Premier League History in Bristol

Our latest 'House Party' celebrated Black History Month and the joy Black players have brought to so many.

November 1st 2022

VERSUS and size? came together in Bristol to mark Black History Month in the latest instalment of 'The House Party' – a series of live events that takes new football culture on the road to some of the UK’s biggest cities.

Taking over the size? store in Bristol's vibrant city centre, VERSUS put together an elite night of entertainment to celebrate the most iconic Black players in Premier League history – from Ian Wright and Didier Drogba to Thierry Henry and Marcus Rashford – for the impact they've made on and off-pitch.

The night was headlined by a panel hosted by VERSUS very own Mayowa Quadri, with contributions from some of the most influential creators and shakers in football culture right now: Goal Diggers UK's Anita Abayomi, Stoppage Time TV and FIVE's Culture Cams, and VERSUS' Head of Partnerships Johnny Kay.

The panel – which will be available as a podcast later this week – discussed the players and moments within the Premier League that pushed Black culture forward, from Wrighty's gold tooth and unapologetic sense of self to Thierry Henry's ice cold ability that inspired a new generation of ballers to dream big.

Bristol's Stay Hungry kept the vibes in check all night long on the decks, while members of the VERSUS and size? communities enjoyed games of FIFA on PS5, admired live sneaker art courtesy of Toby Cato, and looked at an installation of iconic Premier League jerseys courtesy of Classic Football Shirts.

Keep it locked to VERSUS channels to find out everything you need to know about our next instalment in ‘The House Party’ series, set to take place this month in Manchester.
