New Era have entered 2023 by becoming the technical sponsor for their first ever football team, Japanese side Shibuya City FC.

The American brand was founded in 1920 and has traditionally been known for their baseball caps - arguably some of the best in the business - but have turned their hand to fitting out footballers courtesy of their latest link-up.

The official partner of Major League Baseball, New Era has also bagged similar deals over the years with both the NFL and NHL, but with football being the most popular sport in the world - and with Japan’s recent run of form in the World Cup - it’s no wonder the brand’s decided kit out the newly formed Shibuya City FC.

Although this isn’t the first time New Era has branched out from American sports, having produced headwear ranges for both Manchester United and Tottenham, it is the first time they've created a football kit.

The New Era Shibuya City FC shirt comes in a white base with grey, graphic-filled stripes showcasing elements of the club's hometown of Shibuya-ku, Tokyo. The shirt's sleeves come in solid white and are trimmed with black cuffs, whilst the club’s badge is centrally placed with New Era’s logo positioned to its left. Black shorts and white socks complete the look, and help to create a kit that feels both classic and future facing.
