Formula 1 Announces New Partnership With Tottenham Hotspur

Creating opportunities for underrepresented communities in north London.

February 28th 2023

Formula 1 and Tottenham Hotspur have agreed to a 15-year strategic partnership, expanding the Premier League club’s multi-use stadium to include a high-tech, electric karting facility.

The in-stadium facility, which will be the first of its kind in Europe, will open later this year with National Karting Association accredited tracks for both adults and juniors, along with interactive motorsport activities.

Both Formula 1 and Spurs are seeking to create apprenticeship and career opportunities for the local community, as well as developing a new driver academy programme, in an effort to diversify the male-dominated sport.

Formula 1’s goal to eliminate carbon emissions by 2030 is similar to that of the club’s, and the partnership will be used to collaborate on new sustainability initiatives. Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of F1 said: “Our two brands have a shared vision to create life-changing career opportunities, promote diversity and inclusion, and driving environmental sustainability.”

The partnership comes only a few years after the opening of the North London club’s iconic new stadium. Spurs’ chairman Daniel Levy said: “Since building this stadium our ambition has always been to see how far we can push the boundaries in delivering world-class experiences that will attract people from around the world all year round.

“We have been able to bring the biggest names in sport and entertainment to London N17. We are extremely excited about what this long-term partnership with F1 will bring for our global, national, and local communities.”
