Nike has announced a three-year deal with Liga BBVA MX Femenil to become the league’s exclusive sports partner.

Similar to its work with the NWSL, the brand will support women’s football in Mexico both on and off the pitch, from providing the league’s official match ball to development programs for the next generation. The league was founded in 2017, and has been growing rapidly since, with over 900 players participating in its first teams and U18s.

Liga BBVA MX director Mariana Gutiérrez said: “We are excited about this historic alliance with Nike. As a league, we are committed to the development and empowerment of all female football players, and doing so with an ally like Nike brings us joy, because we know this is just the beginning of many good things to come for the game.”

Nike has made efforts to advance women’s football, particularly in North America and European leagues. This investment in a fast-growing league just south of the US border is taking that advancement further than Western countries and giving Mexican women’s football a global platform to stand on.
