For the third edition of Umbro’s ‘Make New’ upcycling campaign, the brand tapped Unwanted FC – an Australian streetwear brand with a focus on bridging the gaps between fashion, football and sustainability.
Using hand-cut panels from different Brentford jerseys from the 22/23 season, Unwanted FC created a unique set of accessories that included: bucket hats, tote bags, and bum bags.
When asked about their recent collab Kevin Chan, one half of the sibling duo behind Unwanted FC, said: “For us, this project is all about producing ‘new’ with what you already have and celebrating this. At Unwanted FC, we are preachers of this message, so it was very fitting for both brands to come together. We’re big fans of how Brentford FC have prolonged their kits in recent seasons, so using samples made available from Umbro HQ was a no-brainer.”
Creators can get involved in the campaign by submitting examples of their own upcycled projects to the Umbro website. The best entries will be sent a mystery box of Umbro products with a challenge to create their own unique project. The campaign’s eventual winner will be given the opportunity to join the brand’s global influencer team where they’ll receive regular product drops and upcycling challenges for an entire year.
Umbro is accepting submissions on the ‘Make New’ campaign’s website until 15 June.
