France Football have announced the nominees for the Kopa Trophy, the Ballon d’Or equivalent for the best performing player under the age of 21.
Premier League stars Matteo Guendouzi and Moise Kean make the 10-man shortlist, with Jadon Sancho and Joao Felix the favourites to bring home the award.
Elsewhere, Villarreal’s Nigerian forward Samuel Chukwueze, Juventus’ Matthijs de Ligt, Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix, Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz, Valencia’s Kang-in Lee and Real Madrid duo Vinicius Junior and Andriy Lunin also make up the list.
19-year-old Jadon Sancho enjoyed an outstanding year in which he scored his first senior England goals and became the Bundesliga’s top assist maker. His closest rivals to win the 2019 award both secured bug money moves to elite European clubs, with Matthijs de Light moving to Juventus for £70 million and Joao Felix moving to Atletico for £113 million.
All of France Football’s awards will be given out in a ceremony in Paris on 2 December. Check out the full list of nominees below.
