All three EFL Play-Off Finals are scheduled to kick-off one minute late to inspire supporters to learn CPR.
The games are set to take place at Wembley Stadium across 24-26 May 2025.
These unique kick-off times are designed to raise awareness for the ‘Every Minute Matters’ campaign, a collaboration between Sky Bet and the British Heart Foundation (BHF) aimed at equipping fans with vital skills that could help them save someone’s life.
The initiative was launched at last season’s Play-Offs and has already surpassed its initial target of encouraging 270,000 people to learn CPR. Now, the campaign is looking to grow that number to 360,000 — four times the size of Wembley.
In the 2023 Championship Play-Off Final, Luton Town’s captain Tom Lockyer collapsed eight minutes into the game. Seven months later, Lockyer suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch during a Premier League game at Bournemouth.
Now a BHF ambassador, Lockyer said: "I was just one of more than 30,000 people who suffer an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest every year in the UK.
"I'm lucky to be alive today, but the reality is that less than one in 10 people usually survive, which is why it's vital we continue to raise awareness. The symbolic kick-off times are the perfect way to make our lifesaving message impossible to ignore."
Research shows that only half of UK adults are confident they can perform CPR. With initiatives like this, football is helping to create safer environments for our loved ones, one minute at a time.
