Hector Bellerin is releasing a new nine-part series telling the full story of his painstaking recovery from a serious ACL injury in 2019.

Following Hector over an 18-month period through surgeries, physio sessions, and at home, 'Unseen Journey' gives viewers a unique insight in to the complex mental, physical and emotional hurdles faced by elite-level athletes recovering from an injury.

Detailing gruelling medical interventions, recovery programmes, and his comeback – including never-before-seen footage of the club’s 2019/20 FA Cup triumph – the series is a candid portrayal of a footballer at their most vulnerable, looking to overcome the pain of a career-threatening injury.

Along with hearing Hector’s thoughts at every stage of the process, the film features in-depth interviews with Arsenal team-mates Rob Holding and Kieran Tierney, Hull City’s Jon Toral along with respected surgeon Ramon Cugat.

Speaking on the film, Hector said:

“When we started, I wanted to give a better insight into the ups and downs of professional sport, giving an honest reflection of what athletes face when going through injury rehabilitation and recovery.

'Unseen Journey' shows some of the toughest moment of my life, both physically and mentally, but I can look back now and be grateful to everyone that helped me through the whole process, a process which has developed me as a professional and as a person.

I really hope the The Unseen Journey will be able to inspire others and show that with the right mindset and team around you, anything is possible.”

The series has been produced by HIFEN Studios – Hector's newly launched creative studios – and is directed by Charles Hoare. The series drops on YouTube on January 13th.
