Fresh from unveiling their own major rap label last week, PUMA have just unveiled a new third jersey for Olympique Marseille inspired by the city's hip-hop heritage.

Marseille will be making their first return to the Champions League since 2013 when the competition kicks off again this month, and PUMA have made sure the former European Cup winners are decked out in a kit fitting for their return to club football's biggest prize.

Marseille is one of the most important cities in the legendary French rap scene, with acts including Psy 4 de la Rime, Soprano, Alonzo, and then Jul, Naps, YL, SCH, and Soso.

The shirt is inspired by the hip-hop culture of the city with a sky-blue base and neon green branding, with a wavey swirl graphic print running from the club crest on the chest.

Speaking about the city's relationship with rap, iconic Marseille rap group IAM said: "The hip hop culture within Marseille is unique to the city itself. While other cities may follow the trends of the US, the rappers of Marseille use the genre of music to promote their local culture instead. There is a culture of respect – we’re all Marseillaise.”

The news follows OM becoming one of the first ever clubs to start their own record label, with the news another positive step forwards for how football clubs can authentically leverage and uplift the culture of their local communities.
