VERSUS and size? came together last week ahead of Brighton Pride for the first instalment of ‘The House Party’ - a series of live events that take new football culture on the road to some of the UK’s biggest cities.

Taking over Brighton’s size? store ahead of the city’s annual Pride event, we chopped it up with some of the best in the game all night long. Our ‘Pride in Football’ panel was headed up by Rinse FM’s Jordss and featured Lewes FC captain Ellie Hack alongside VERSUS writers Amie Cripps and Mayowa Quadri, while Gal Pals kept the vibes high all night courtesy of their DJ set.

We discussed the importance of making football a safe space for all fans, what needs to be done for more players like Blackpool FC’s Jake Daniels to come out, and why we need more allyship across the game for members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Members of the VERSUS and size? communities came together to celebrate the vibrancy of diversity and representation in football, while enjoying a few games of FIFA 22 on PS5 and complimentary drinks thanks to Hennessy.

Always wanting to evoke long lasting change on and off the pitch, the event supported the Albert Kennedy Trust (akt), a charity helping members of the LGBTQ+ community between the ages of 16-25 living in hostile or abusive environments, as well those struggling with housing.
