Established in 2021, Newground United serves to create an inclusive space for players of all gender identities and skill levels.

The team plays in the Alternative Football League, an inclusive league set up by Manchester Laces' founder Helen Hardy, dedicated to creating a safe environment for women, non-binary and trans players across Greater Manchester.

Women’s grassroots football has increased in popularity in recent years, and the demand for the sense of community and inclusivity it provides - especially to underrepresented groups - has resulted in new teams being formed across the country.
