VERSUS and size? came together ahead of Manchester Pride for the first 2023 instalment of ‘The House Party’ – a series of live events that sees us go on tour to celebrate new football culture.
Taking over Manchester’s size? store in celebration of the city’s annual Pride event, we chopped it up with Manchester City and England baller Demi Stokes for a live recording of the VERSUS ‘Future of Football’ podcast where we discussed her coming out story, LGBTQ+ inclusivity in the women’s game compared to the men’s, the ups and downs of IVF and how she now balances her career as a professional footballer and a mum.
Along with the live Q+A, Manchester DJ collective Not Bad For A Girl sent down Maracuya to keep the vibes and tunes high all night, and a special in-store performance from Birmingham’s very own Kofi Stone had members of the VERSUS and size? communities seeing off the night in style.
Both communities came together to celebrate the vibrancy of diversity and representation in football, while enjoying a few games of FIFA 23 on PS5 and complimentary drinks thanks to Jameson Irish Whiskey. size? also made sure one lucky attendee stepped correct courtesy of their sneaker competition.
Shoutout to Zooey Gleaves aka Lagoon Femshayma for checking in with some of the most fashion-forward football fans to learn about their go-to labels and looks as well as their love for Pride. The future of football has never looked so good.
