United States national team forward Timothy Weah has joined Celtic on-loan until the end of the season.

It's a huge boost for The Hoops, with Weah one of the best up-and-coming teenagers in world football and Rodgers needing more firepower to fight off a title challenge from Steven Gerrard's Rangers side, who have just signed a clinical striker in Jermain Defoe to try and secure the Scottish Premier League.

Speaking about the move, Weah said, “It’s a fantastic honour to sign for such a historic club, and I’m really looking forward to this opportunity. I’m also delighted to be working with such a great coach and great team-mates, and I’m looking forward so much to be playing in front of some of the best and most passionate fans on the planet. I’m so happy and so excited.”

If Tim Weah gets minutes, he'll no doubt light up the SPL. You'd hope Weah's time at Celtic will be comparable to another teenage star that became prolific under Brendan Rodgers. Back in 13/14, an 18-year-old Raheem Sterling became the youngest player to contribute 10+ goals in Europe's big five leagues – and Weah no doubt has the talent to emulate those stats in 2019.
