The latest Nike and Martine Rose collaboration has landed ahead of the Women’s World Cup and harnesses the power of gender-free fashion, helping to redefine what ‘style’ is in the women’s game.

The brand’s latest link-up with the British-Jamaican designer typifies the intersection of fashion and football, and represents a world that’s more inclusive, egalitarian, empowering and inspiring as a result.

By dissolving the boundaries of men and women’s football styling with gender-free tailored suiting, Rose has both advanced sport style and expanded the culture of sport – especially for the next generation.

The collection elevates the ‘look’ of elite women’s football and closes the gender gap with its considered and crafted tailoring – something we’ve yet to really experience in the women’s game before.

From stepping off the plane to arriving at the pitch – occasions where, traditionally, men’s players have been suited and booted for – Rose’s range has catered to the needs of those heading to this summer’s Women’s World Cup in a way no-one else has attempted to do in the women’s game.

Featuring a player’s suit jacket, trouser, trench and shirt, plus accessories including stockings, gloves and sunglasses as well as the latest iteration of the Nike and Martine Rose Shox Mule MR 4, the collection is the most extensive fashion range the game’s ever seen when it comes to women’s tailoring.

Rose’s now iconic Shox Mule MR 4 makes a welcomed return in this capsule, with the shoe’s eye-catching blue and purple colorway nodding to the famously vibrant goalkeeper jerseys of the 1990s. With the silhouette also acting as a talisman for equity in football as well as the ever-expanding culture of sport, and a signal of what’s to come from Nike and Rose later in the year.

“When a woman wears a suit, it expresses strength, resilience and beauty”, says Rose. “I want women to feel powerful in their suits like men do. More than that, although I’m using women to tell the story, there’s no gender attached to the suit. Anyone can wear it.

“I hope one day we’re not talking about gender in sport and are just talking about the sport itself. Once everything’s been stripped back, it’s just the game that’s left.”

“I love the mash-up that sports and fashion and culture has become, and as an athlete, I’ve always wanted what we wear to stand for more,” says Megan Rapinoe, Nike athlete and United States Women’s National Team member. “I think Martine (Rose), as a designer inspired by sports culture, is able to pull so much meaning into her work, and for her to be able to express herself through this moment that is so special to us is really cool — and obviously the pieces are just dope.”

The collection will be available exclusively on Martine-Rose.com from July 25 and on SNKRS and at select specialty stores July 27.
