Nike have just dropped off the latest iteration of their PhantomVSN silo, and the PhantomVSN 2 promises to offer up more cutting-edge precision and performance for the most attacking players in the game.
The new PhantomVSN 2 presents a freshly-revamped fit, improved texture and an easy foot entry which is primed for both street and elite-level ballers.
The boot upper is constructed with a symmetrical Flyknit external layer and heel clip notched for better lateral containment. Like 2018's OG, the '2' features the concealed Ghost Lace system to enable a clean strike surface and one-pull fit customisation. Equipped alongside with Quadfit technology, a stretchable mesh that provides foot lockdown, Nike have produced one of the snuggest, technically-sound boots in the market.
Designed for technical players who use the outside of their boots to dribble at opponents, the PhantomVSN 2 texture has been significantly reengineered and is now informed by four different quadrants — medial trap zone, strike zone, knuckle zone and dribble zone – with a 20 percent thinning of materials across the touch zones helps increase ball control.
Elsewhere the cuff has been lowered under the medial malleolus bone to maximize ankle mobility versus containment, pull tabs have been added for ease of entry and exit and underfoot, the Nike PhantomVSN 2 retains Nike React cushioning for the small-sided version and a lightweight and responsive plate on the on-pitch version.
The street and cleated models of the PhantomVSN 2 release January 23 on nike.com and at select retailers globally. Get a closer look at the new silo below.
