According to the Daily Mail, the new tournament would see pools of three teams play each other in a group stage followed by direct knockout games, with all 24 clubs that compete required to field their strongest squads. Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal are all said to be keen on the proposal.
They are also hoping to include a number of South American sides after UEFA signed an agreement with Conmebol, the South American confederation, that will see the two bodies work together more frequently.
Relevant are hoping for bumper broadcasting deal for the elite sides competing, making the competition profitable for every party involved.
