adidas Launch New Campaign to Provide Free Pitch Space to Women, Girls and Non-Binary Players

Creating real, lasting change for future generations of changemakers.

July 8th 2022

With UEFA Euro 2022 now underway, this summer is shaping up to be a celebration of what’s to come for women, girls, and non-binary ballers in the UK. However, adidas recognise an existing lack of access to facilities may hinder future opportunities for growth.

Recent research showed that 59% of girls previously interested in sport drop out due to inadequate opportunities and facilities, and the Three Stripes are aiming to battle against existing issues through their new campaign ‘Pitch, Please’.

Hoping to support the future generation of changemakers, their tournament-long campaign entails providing regular pitch access for women, girls, and non-binary players across London. Partnering up with WhatsApp once again, eligible groups will be able to request a session through the app via a booking service; with 5, 7, and 9-a-side pitches at Haggerston School available every weekend, as well as pitches at Fulham FC’s Motspur Park complex.

Further events and opportunities will be announced throughout the tournament, with adidas committed to offering over 100 hours for women, girls, and non-binary players during the summer’s Euros.

It’s a great step forward in challenging existing barriers, garnering the support of many in the footballing community, including Everton and England player Toni Duggan:

“Growing up, having a safe and accessible space to play football was so important, and without that I wouldn’t be where I am today. It’s so great to see adidas highlighting this issue and providing a dedicated pitch for women, girls, and non-binary players to play. I understand first-hand the value this can have, and I know it will really benefit the community.”

Beyond the tournament, adidas will be linking up with VERSUS to provide 150 hours of free access to Powerleague pitches. Launching in August, there will be a host of pitches available to book across the capital, helping to provide longer-lasting safe, and accessible spaces for women, girls, and non-binary players.

Eligible groups will be able to request a session by contacting adidas at +44 7874 089 145 with the phrase ‘Pitch Please’ or by follow this link.
