It’s safe to say 2024 has been the year of the adidas Predator, but the upcoming release of the Predator Megaride shows the Three Stripes’ aren’t finished honouring one of football’s most iconic boots. 

Ahead of the 2006 World Cup, adidas released the Predator Absolute – worn by the likes of Kaká, Zinedine Zidane and David Beckham. The eighth Predator iteration arrived in three colourways, including Zizou’s all-gold version, but it was the blue and silver release donned by Becks that turned heads that summer. 

The Metallic Blue and Silver upper that featured on Becks’ ‘06 Absolutes, form the foundation of adidas’ upcoming Megaride mash-up, too. The sneaker also includes a foldover tongue as well as the Megarides’ notorious Bounce-tractioned footbed, which made them one of the must-have running silhouettes of the mid-2000s. 

Although the Predator Megaride isn’t an official collaboration with Beckham himself, the similarities between his Absolutes from 18 years ago are hard to deny. The former England captain recently released his own Predators featuring the adidas Trefoil logo, the first boots to ever do so in history. 

There is no official release date for the adidas Predator Megarides but here's hoping they arrive just in time for Christmas.
