adidas Originals is dropping some new knitwear with spring just around the corner, and these ones come with a classic football twist.
The jumpers take on the style of generic adidas football kits, complete with the brand’s signature Three Stripes on the shoulders, shirt sponsors and, of course, a club crest.
A top loosely inspired by the Teamgeist jerseys that launched at the 2006 World Cup arrives in two colourways of mossy green and a classic black, red and white. The iconic Teamgeist signature – contrasting panels of colour framing the front of the kit – is reimagined in heavy knits.
An adidas shirt sponsor sits in the middle, just below a stylised Three Stripes emblem. The same club crest is featured on all of the jumpers, with three colourful bands encircled in text repping the Originals’ team.
With a look that nods to Argentina, AC Milan and other striped clubs adidas has kitted out in the past, two jumpers with alternating, waffle-knit stripes complete the drop. One arrives in Originals blue and white, whilst the other is a deep plum with black details.
On the back of each kit, a nameset includes ‘adidas’ and ‘03’ – a play on the Three Stripes nickname.
It looks like this pitch-ready drop is exclusive to China and Hong Kong, but fingers crossed adidas goes global with these gems soon.
