Spanish creative studios MATINAL and Outerview have linked up with adidas Spain to drop a special-edition football kit.

The ‘Altered Pattern’ jersey explores the changing structure of football through design, with the unconventional style breaking the mould and redefining the sport’s archetypes.

The kit arrives in a classic royal blue colourway with black stripes. An image of three birds against a cloudy sky is framed by the words ‘Altered Pattern’ in bold, red text. On the sleeve, a red patch includes the metadata for the photo, replacing a typical sponsor.

A layered, dual-branded crest sits opposite the adidas logo, with ‘An Outerview for Matinal’ written on the badge.

A FLAKKTEAM logo designed by artist and friend of both studios Rels B decorates the back of the kit for a final flourish.

MATINAL’s love for football is well-documented with fashion-forward kit designs, accessories and even a football-shaped hacky sack. Their designs always take football outside of its box, playing on cultural moments and zeitgeist, but this time they’ve outdone themselves.

The ‘Altered Pattern’ jersey is available to purchase now on the MATINAL website.
