Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde’s odds on winning this year’s Golden Boy award have been slashed by Taylor Swift fans.

In a turn of events that could only happen on the internet, ‘Swifties’ rallied in support of Jude Bellingham after an interview from earlier this year resurfaced online, where Balde stated he did not like Taylor Swift’s music.

This week, Balde’s vote for the prestigious award has dropped exponentially from 43% to 8% as a result of fan intervention, with votes for Real Madrid’s Bellingham instead skyrocketing to 89% following the unconventional endorsement.

Balde’s unfortunate fate at the hands of stan culture is a warning to footballers everywhere: there are some celebrities who should never be commented on, lest they feel the entire wrath of an entire fanbase.
