Arsenal’s prevalence in Black British culture is one that has existed for decades now, and ‘Black Arsenal’ is a new book that explores the North London club’s deep connections to Blackness through the players, managers and moments that shaped the ‘culture club.’

Edited by Clive Nwonka and Matthew Harle, the book looks at the roots of Arsenal’s unique affinity with Black culture, with decades of fielding some of the sport’s most iconic Black figures from Ian Wright and Thierry Henry to Rachel Yankey and Anita Asante.

‘Black Arsenal’ features contributions from club legends like Ian Wright and Paul Davis as the book unpacks the club’s role in modern Black British culture, transcending football and flooding into music, fashion, politics and art.

‘Black Arsenal’ is set to release on 29 August, and is available to pre-order from all major book retailers.
