2K has reportedly acquired the license to the FIFA video game franchise, according to retailer MohPlay.
FIFA’s long-lasting partnership with EA ended with FIFA 23, and though EA Sports dropped FC 24 last year, FIFA has taken a hiatus from the world of gaming. The 2K news comes just days after President Gianni Infantino announced that FIFA is working on reviving the popular video game with a new partner.
2K is best known for NBA 2K and WWE 2K, and the developers are seen as the perfect choice to bring competition back to the football video game landscape. Competing directly with EA Sports FC, how the game will differ from previous iterations and EA FC will likely be revealed in the run up to its release, particularly when it comes to Ultimate Team and other unique aspects of the game that made FIFA what it was.
