Women’s football will take centre stage in EA SPORTS FC 24, with confirmation arriving that women’s players from six leagues – including the WSL, Liga F and Frauen-Bundesliga – will be fully playable in Ultimate Team alongside men’s players.
The move will be the biggest single addition of top tier players ever to the game in a single year, and opens up a world of opportunities for gamers where Leah Williamson can partner Virgil van Dijk in defence, or Sam Kerr can line up next to Erling Haaland up top.
Women’s players will be fully integrated into the revamped game mode, making them available in packs, the transfer market and Draft. The development is a huge milestone for the women’s game, and opens up a world where video games can be a huge source of engagement and education for the fast-growing world of women’s football.
Historically, EA SPORTS FIFA was a great tool for increasing awareness and knowledge of players in leagues across the world. It’s likely that Ultimate Team could have the same transformative effect for the women’s game.
EA SPORTS FC 24 drops on September 22.
