LeBron James revealed the new Nike Liverpool FC x LeBron football shirt last night ahead of the Lakers’ basketball game against Spurs.
James - soon-to-be the NBA's all-time leading scorer - stepped out at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles fronting his new shirt in collaboration with Nike and Liverpool F.C. as his tunnel fit of choice.
The shirt is made up of a black base with dark grey block-stripes accentuated by red piping. Inside the stripes sit two - almost translucent - acronyms: 'YNWA' and 'SFG', the former representing Liverpool's famous 'You'll Never Walk Alone', and the latter a phrase coined by James himself, 'Strive For Greatness'. Along with Nike's iconic 'Swoosh' logo there's also the equally iconic Liverpool F.C. crest found on the front of the shirt, whilst in the centre is LeBron's 'LJ' motif.
James was also sporting a modified version of the Air Max 1 from the LeBron x Liverpool collection leaked earlier this year, with a lighter shade of teal used on the silhouette’s upper instead of white mesh, plus the addition of more black on the AM1’s tongue - colours and tones reflective of the Merseyside team’s 22/23 third kit. Similarly to the shirt, the heel of each Liverpool x LeBron Nike Air Max 1 shoe also includes both 'YNWA' and 'SFG' sayings, with each one embossed on the right and left heels respectively.
A few months back, Nike released a pair of basketball shoes as the first footwear item in the Liverpool x LeBron collection, but the release of the upcoming AM1 - one of Nike's most popular styles - will no doubt appeal to both football fans and sneaker heads everywhere.
The co-branded line of product teased looks to seamlessly fuse the worlds of football and basketball in a way only previously seen by PSG and Jordan’s era-defining partnership, which is likely to have served as an influence for Liverpool, LeBron and Nike
