Nike is set to drop a remake of the USWNT’s 1999 World Cup kit, 25 years after that historic team lifted the trophy for the second time.
Similar to the Brazil ‘98 reissue that dropped recently, the special-edition retro capsule includes a perfect replica of the ‘99ers iconic jersey, arriving in white with a red collar and sleeve cuffs outlined in dark blue. A single star – representing the USA’s victory at the inaugural Women’s World Cup in 1991 – is stitched on the right sleeve.
Nike included a special R9 version for their Brazil drop and have paid homage to some absolute icons for the USWNT release too. Mia Hamm's No.9 jersey will be available to purchase along with Julie Foudy's No.11 and Brandi Chastain's No.6 – a shirt that was whipped off after Chastain scored the winning penalty in the final. A celebration that has gone down as one of the greatest in footballing history.
In addition to the jersey, a USA warm-up trackie is up for grabs. The red windbreaker is contrasted by a navy stripe running down the sleeves and filling in the high neck, matching navy trousers feature the original US Soccer crest with three stars also features in the collection.
The USWNT ‘99ers range is available to pre-order now via US Soccer's online store.
