Nike unveiled their full collection of NWSL away kits ahead of the season kicking off on March 14.
Drawing inspiration from the local identity behind each club, the collection is a celebration of everything that makes these clubs and their respective cities what they are – guaranteeing that no matter where they go, they’ll always have a piece of home with them.
Portland Thorns’ kit embodies their “Build a Bonfire” chant courtesy of its space-dyed knitting technique, creating ember-like effects with reds and blacks scattered across the jersey. Angel City FC’s release puts the club’s heart on its sleeve with a custom designed toile print that’s inspired by the classic Los Angeles tattoo sheets, celebrating the diversity, strength and beauty that unifies the city and its team. And San Diego Wave’s “Altamar” kit reflects the ocean with its deep blue and tide-like turquoise swirls, sending a “make waves” message to the players who will be wearing it this season.
Nike and the NWSL announced last season that teams will no longer wear white shorts due to players’ growing concerns around period leaks – something the duo have remained committed to with this drop.
Studies have shown that insecurities and heightened body image concerns are some of the main factors in young girls dropping out of sport. The stress that comes with playing whilst menstruating and fear of leaks only adds to those insecurities. Respect to Nike and the NWSL for removing barriers to entry and alleviating players' worries so they can focus on what they do best.
The 2025 Nike NWSL away kits are available to purchase online and at select retailers.
