Erling Haaland could be about to switch up his sponsorship deal with the Swoosh for PUMA after recent reports from Germany claimed the Norse bagsman is about to make the jump in January.
Arguably the most lethal man in world football, Haaland has gone from being a Golden Boy to global phenomenon in just a matter of years â making him one of the hottest properties in the game for potential sponsors.
Now it looks like PUMA are set to strike a deal with Haaland in January 2022 with a crazy offer of ÂŁ21million over five years once his current Nike deal expires, according to Bild â making it a huge power play in the ongoing brand and baller wars between the pair.
Bild report that Haaland could be set to join PUMA and in turn keep the 21-year-old in Dortmund for another year. Sport Bild had reported only on Wednesday morning that the Dortmund are considering raising the salary of the Norwegian to over 15 million euros-per-season, should he stick around for the 2022/23 season.
Haaland has always been a Nike boy since his career kicked off, only having strictly donned the Mercurial (Vapor and Superfly), in the past â but now another huge switch from Nike to PUMA looks afoot, following Neymarâs similar brand swap last year.
Haalandâs fellow countryman, Bjorn Gulden is the CEO of PUMA, and reportedly played a big part in facilitating his move to Dortmund. With PUMA not only a shareholder of Borussia Dortmund but also a long-term partner and sponsor, the brand has coaxed Dortmund ballers such as Marco Reus, Axel Witsel and Ĺukasz Piszczek to link up with PUMA while at the club.
Keep it locked for the latest on this move.
