Asahi Super Dry 0.0% and Manchester City have linked up with football analysts Opta to produce a limited-edition collection of ‘Derby Day Scarves’ ahead of the Premier League and Women’s Super League Manchester Derby fixtures.
Data produced by Opta serves as the blueprint for the scarves unique designs, with each stitch bringing to life a key stat from previous matches such as possession, shots, goals as well as milestone moments.
The ‘Derby Day Scarves’ will be available in two versions with each one showcasing some of City’s biggest derby wins across men’s and women’s football, including the club’s 1-6 win against Man United in October, 2011. A game that gave football fans the iconic Mario Balotelli ‘Why Always Me?’ celebration. City’s 3-0 WSL win from February, 2021, also features, when Caroline Weir famously chipped Man United’s keeper at the time, Mary Earps for the dub.
Fans can scan a QR code on the scarves to access in-depth analysis of Derby Day fixtures from Opta and refresh their Man City trivia, reliving some of the most legendary moments from one of football's biggest rivalries.
The limited-edition scarves have been revealed by Manchester City legends Joleon Lescott and Steph Houghton, both of whom featured in the fixtures that inspired the scarves' designs.
The ‘Derby Day Scarves’, which have been unveiled to mark Asahi Super Dry 0.0%’s sponsorship of the current Premier League champions, will exclusively be available at Asahi Super Dry 0.0%’s The Cityzens’ Arms, giving fans the chance to wear a piece of history.
