The NWSL joins other major American leagues, such as the NFL and the NBA, in commissioning the jewellers to design its end-of-season trophies.Both updated designs are major improvements from their predecessors.The new Championship trophy replaces the NWSL logo outline that was previously awarded to the winners. Inspired by aerodynamic forces, The shiny hardware imitates the motion of a ball suspended in the air, with currents holding it in place. The MVP trophy follows the design cues of the Championship, with a football held between two angular handles. In a statement released by the league, NWSL Chief Marketing & Commercial Officer Julie Haddon said: “Our ability to partner with iconic brands like Tiffany reinforces the remarkable athletes who play in the NWSL.“Their influence both on and off the field is deserving of a top-tier trophy and we’re grateful to our partners at Tiffany & Co. for their invaluable collaboration in creating a prize befitting the best women’s soccer league in the world.”The league is in talks with Tiffany & Co. to redesign the NWSL Shield, with an updated trophy likely being awarded to next year’s league winners.
