The Louis Vuitton ‘Footprint’ astro-inspired sneakers are about to hit stores, arriving with the SS25 Menswear collection.
The French fashion house’s Paris Fashion Week runway back in June placed the luxury spotlight on football, particularly with the accessories. A full kit and ball-shaped handbag brought LV to the pitch, but it was the sneakers inspired by classic football boots that caught the eyes of the true connoisseurs.
The ‘Footprint’ sneakers draw heavily on the designs of some of football’s greatest boot silos. Crafted in premium leather, the telltale grooves and stitching of a pair of boots create the perfect base for the monochrome shoes.
A narrow foldover tongue is reminiscent of old Reeboks and adidas Predators, embroidered with the ‘LV+VERS UNITED’ badge that decorates the other football-inspired pieces in the collection. The Louis Vuitton logo is stitched on the side with ‘Vuitton’ sitting in place of the usual ‘Mercurial’ or ‘F50.’
In lieu of studs, a street-ready sole stamped with a monogrammed, five-toe footprint draws the sneaker back into the world of fashion rather than slide tackles and 90th minute bangers.
The black version was the only one to walk down the runway, but the sneakers are set to release in four other colourways – red, white, blue and a dark, mossy green.
The ‘Footprint’ sneakers will be available for pre-order starting December 26 on the Louis Vuitton website, with in-store availability starting on January 2.
