Manchester United have joined forces with Red to release a special-edition (RED) kit for one weekend only.

The (RED) logo will replace the Snapdragon sponsor on United’s men’s and women’s home kits for the first time ever, raising awareness for global healthcare injustice.

Product Red is a brand that was created to raise awareness and money to eliminate HIV/AIDS in eight African countries – Eswatini, Ghana, Lesotho, Kenya, South Africa, Rwanda, Tanzania and Zambia.

The brand has previously partnered with Apple, Nike, EA and more, with proceeds going to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. From limited-edition iPhones and Beats headphones to bright red pushchairs, some of the biggest companies in the world have raised hundreds of millions in collaboration with Red since 2006.

Through their partnership with Snapdragon, the shirt sponsor will be replaced with a charitable organization for one match each season, with Red being the first of many. Manchester United will be the first football club to collaborate with the non-profit, opening it up to a new demographic entirely.

The men’s team will wear the kit against West Ham on May 10, whilst the women will don it as they go head-to-head with Arsenal on the 11th.

A release date hasn’t been announced yet, but the shirt should be available to purchase in the weeks leading up to the matches with proceeds going towards the Global Fund.
