Barcelona have ripped up tradition by switching up from their traditional striped home jerseys for the second time ever to a new checkerboard design.

Inspired by the gridded streetscape of the city's Eixample District, with the creativity of the district channelled in the bold new jersey.

The new uniform features blue shorts and blue socks topped with a red trim, with he jersey’s V-neck collar decorated by the stripes of the Catalan flag. Check out imagery of the new jersey below.

“The kit is something new and exciting,” says Gerard Piqué. “It might be different, but it is 100 percent Barca and it is even better that the design represents the bond the club has with the supporters and the people who are driving the city forward.”

The 2019-20 FC Barcelona home kit is available now from Nike.
