Barcelona and Spotify are due to announce Taylor Swift as the next artist to feature as the club’s front-of-shirt sponsor for the upcoming La Liga El Clásico.
The Catalan club’s sponsorship deal with music streaming service Spotify has seen artists including Drake, Rosalía, The Rolling Stones and Coldplay feature as shirt sponsors in recent years – promoting what is one of the most exciting match-ups club football has to offer.
Swift was named as Spotify’s Global Top Artist for 2024 after clocking 26.6 billion streams around the world. Last year, her “Eras” tour became the highest-grossing tour of all time after surpassing $2 billion in ticket sales.
It’s believed that other artists have been in consideration for the front-of-shirt sponsor role, including both Ed Sheeran and Travis Scott, but Swift is rumoured to be Barça’s first choice as they set out to face their biggest rivals Real Madrid in May.
For a fixture rooted in Bad Blood, this link-up makes total sense.
