adidas have linked up with Barca goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen for one of their most sustainable sneakers ever.
Connecting with the ‘keeper and Parley for the Oceans, adidas have created a new limited UltraBOOST Parley release to raise awareness of marine plastic pollution, which arrives in the dark blues and greens found in urban harbours.
Both the Parley UltraBOOST and UltraBOOST X silhouettes feature Primeknit uppers consisting of 85% Parley Ocean Plastic created from upcycled marine waste which is stopped from entering the ocean and turned into the re-usable material running across the silhouette. Check them both out below.
Ter Stegen spoke to adidas about why he chose to collaborate with them and Parley on the shoe:
“I live by the sea and try to spend as much time as possible there. I want to help change our environment through an initiative I believe in.
“With every pair of this limited UltraBOOST Parley shoe, we prevent approximately 11 plastic bottles from potentially entering the ocean. This is one big step in making the world a better place.”
You can purchase the new UltraBOOST Parley x Marc-Andre Ter Stegen collab sneaker for £173.99 online and at selcted adidas outlets from April 16.
