Nike have tapped Kylian Mbappé for the launch of the Mercurial Air Max 95.
The Real Madrid baller gave fans a first on-pitch glimpse of the Mercurial Air Max last week in training but has yet to debut the boots during a match. Tomorrow night's UCL quarter-final match-up against Arsenal can't come soon enough.
The boots transform Sergio Lozano’s timeless design, producing a perfect blend of streetwear and football apparel. The upper takes on the sneaker’s trademark layered look, descending into darker hues from a white mesh to a charcoal footbed. Like the OG, the monochrome tones are also contrasted with bold neon green accents, arriving on the studs, soleplate and eyestays. Other details include an ‘Air Zoom’ tongue tag that reworks the classic Air Max logo.
This isn't the first time Mbappé has donned a pair of Air Max-inspired boots though. Last year the France icon laced up in a pair of “Volt Purple/Total Orange” Air Mercurial Tns, a release that combined the Air Zoom Mercurial Superfly IX and Air Max Plus OG. Back in 2019, Mbappé's debut signature Nike collection also featured a limited-edition Air Max 98 in grey and gold.
In the AM95 Mercurial official campaign imagery, Mbappé can also be spotted wearing the Nike x Corteiz NRG tracksuit, a set from the duo's collaborative capsule release late last year.
The Nike Mercurial Air Max 95 will be available online from April 12 via Nike and select retailers.
