João Félix has signed a new boot and brand ambassador deal with Japanese sportswear company Mizuno, helping to shape the future of the brand’s football range.
The Portuguese baller has been wearing Mizuno’s newest Alpha II Japan boots lately, sparking rumours that he made the switch to a new brand. Now, the duo have made it official.
Through the deal, Félix will become the new face of Mizuno Football, playing a major role in the development of new boots and promoting the brand on and off the pitch. In addition to wearing the football boots, he will also rock Mizuno’s latest lifestyle sneakers and apparel, with his feedback stretching all the way back to the drawing board for future products.
Félix’s new deal with Mizuno comes shortly after Antoine Griezmann joined the Decathlon family. Though it’s still not very common, there has been a shift in the boot industry and the brands that players choose to work with.
The dominance that Nike, adidas and PUMA have had in football is slowly dwindling, with heritage brands making major comebacks and new labels proving they have what it takes to go toe to toe with the giants. Skechers made headlines when Harry Kane signed a lifetime deal back in 2023, and since then, smaller boot brands have been signing up some of the biggest names in games.
Mizuno’s off to a flying start, with a stunning new silo and a superstar signing to match. It’s time to sign up for the newsletter. These are the types of boots you won’t want to miss out on.
