Stone Island called up Hidetoshi Nakata to front their new SS025 campaign, unveiling the next chapter of the ‘COMMUNITY AS A FORM OF RESEARCH’ project.
The project is an ongoing collaboration between the brand and members of the Stone Island community, from musicians and artists to chefs and athletes. For the SS025 edition, Stone Island had to tap one of football’s original fashion icons to join the star-studded cast.
Photographed by David Sims and styled by Max Pearmain, Nakata poses against the brand’s signature white backdrop in the 4100022 Raso Gommato 3L Laser Camo jacket and matching shorts. Like the rest of the project, his answers to nine out of the 100 questions he was asked are listed beside him, from his daily routine to deeper inquiries.
The questions – curated by the Serpentine Gallery’s artistic director Hans Ulrich Obrist – are at the heart of the campaign, offering insight into the diverse and varied members of Stone Island’s global community.
With the brand’s influence rooted in so many subcultures, from the football terraces of the ‘80s to Britpop and Grime, Nakata is joined by some of the biggest names in the world. The Japan legend is featured in the campaign alongside Spike Lee, Giggs and John Glacier.
The SS025 Collection is available to purchase now on the Stone Island website.
