Umbro have linked up with streetwear brand Aries to celebrate their centenary, commemorating the anniversary just in time for the Euros.

The ‘red, white and blue’ celebratory collection was inspired by Umbro’s rich football archive and historic relationship with the English game - having previously been the Three Lions’ official kit partner on three separate occasions between 1954 - 2012.

The collaborative capsule includes two classic short sleeve football jerseys, a long sleevegoalkeeper jersey, football shorts and kit accessories plus a limited-edition navy-blue lacefootball jersey, exclusive to Aries with a run of only 100 ‘centenary shirts’.

Across the football jerseys, the Aries archive ‘Aries A-Rose’ graphic has been resurrectedand repeated throughout, as a subtle all-over rose print backdrop – an ode to the ‘EnglishRose’. The short sleeve jerseys arrive in red and white, with the renowned ‘Aries Temple’ adorned to the left of the chest and Umbro’s ‘Double Diamond’ logo to the right.

The goalkeeper jersey is a tonal black print of the mythical lion, representative of England’s history with the legendary creature, and Aries’ notorious mythological references hidden within the all-over print including the Latin motto: “if you kill it, it will come back stronger”.

On the back of each jersey the No.100 is emblazoned, a graphic that combines the Aries x Umbro collaborative font seen in previous collections produced by the duo. Umbro’s double diamond logo amalgamated all three elements of the collaboration: Aries, Umbro and 100 years.

Italian fashion designer and Aries founder, Sofia Prantera, describes the recent collection as “blurring the boundaries between sportswear and lifestyle”, a gap that Aries has been bridging for a lot longer than most brands, whilst also championing inclusion through football fashion.

"Aries’ design aesthetic pushes the boundaries of what is normally associated with football culture and our inclusive approach connects Umbro with a different consumer. There is a very large demographic that football is now actively trying to engage that might feel intimidated by traditional sports, so collaborating with a brand like Aries aims to break those barriers and portray football as a passion and “mystical experience” open to all.”

Aries x Umbro is available to purchase now online and via www.ariesarise.com as well as the Aries Flagship Store in London.
