Multidisciplinary artist Daniel Arsham gifted two custom sculptures to Inter Milan, expressing his support for the club through his work.

In a joint post on Instagram, the American artist spoke about his first introduction to the club through his work. He has been travelling to the Italian city for over 15 years, and through collaborations with friends working in art, architecture and fashion, he came across Inter.

As a way of giving back to the club he has supported for many years now, Arsham created two sculptures to reflect the Nerazzurri – one royal blue and one black. The sculptures are made of crystal and volcanic ash, taking on the shape of footballs that appear to be torn apart to reveal the crystals inside.

In the caption of the post, Arsham said: “Though my artworks may appear as if they are falling apart, the crystals are actually growing to completion inside. Evolving, adapting, and growing in unison, much like the spirit of Inter. Facing challenges and overcoming them.”

Arsham is known for the collaborative nature of his work, creating set designs for famed choreographer Merce Cunningham and staging runways for Kim Jones’ Dior Homme. This is his first foray into the world of football, and as the sport continues to embrace art and fashion, it hopefully won’t be his last.
