The FA has joined forces with Olaolu Slawn, commissioning the artist to create a one-off FA Cup trophy this season.
Slawn and The FA teased the upcoming collaboration in a post shared on social media last week, but today the artist showed a first glimpse of his replica masterpiece ahead of next weekend's FA Cup final between Manchester City and Manchester United.
Though it is a first for The FA, this isn’t Slawn’s first time designing an iconic trophy. Last year, he designed the Brit Awards, transforming his trademark style from his usual medium of bright coloured spray paints into bronze statues.
A similar infusion of that signature style is apparent in his replica FA Cup, created alongside Thomas Lyte – the official makers of the FA Cup – to create a one-of-a-kind design for one of English football’s most prestigious trophies.
